Drag pair jailed

AdelaideNow... Drag pair jailed: "Identifying B as the ring leader on the night of the crash, Judge Rice sentenced him to 2-1/2 years in jail with a non-parole period of 18 months, to be served on top of a sentence he is already serving. He was also disqualified from driving for 10 years."

I don't actually get this. I have read it 3 times. These two are 19. They stole the cars to drag race. So, okay, they've taken soemone else's property to put at risk. What kind of cars? What were they worth? What gives them the idea it's all right to take other people's cars to drag race...put themselves, their passengers, the cars, other people , other cars and property at risk? So, they do crash the cars. They kill someone, they seriously injure another person. Kill someone. They take cars to drag race, they kill one of their passengers and they seriously injure another. These people are 19. Then they leave. They leave because they are frightened? They leave because they have killed someone? They leave? They do not stop to help the injured people . Are they the ones who called the ambulance? Did they at least do that? They have stolen cars, killed someone's son, presumably, seriously injured someone's daughter, I assume, called them friends but left them to die...because one did die. 2 years and 2 and a half years? What else? Losing their licences for 10 and 8 years. What else? How do we get through to people like this? What else? I do not get it at all. Don't they have to do anything to get their heads and personalities straight? What about the family of the male who died? I really do not get it. These two are a real risk to the community.
