Teachers will earn less

Teachers will earn less, admits Bishop: "Despite this, a performance pay scheme would help attract people to the profession, she said, and could be introduced without any new funding."

Targetting goodwill jobs like doctors, nurses, teachers, police, firefighters...is actually mean. The performance pay has not worked anywhere else in trials in our country nor overseas. Infact it has undermined public education. Maybe that's the plan? From what we have been reading in the news young teachers are not staying with teaching and older teachers are resigning or retiring. A number of Adelaide teachers are running any number of other initiatives and being very successful...so to put in something else to put people off is not going to work. Performance based pay is just nasty in its intention. Sets one against the other. Makes some seem so superior, but it doesn't work. There is evidence it doesn't work, so why would you pursue it? It seems like leaders think private education is more valid because our leaders are not supporting and encouraging state schools. They just keep criticising them all the time....user pays in education will cut governments costs. Yep, there we go again. Money. Education cuts don't heal. Neither do health cuts.
