Farmers enjoy welcome rain

Farmers enjoy welcome rain : "Farmers in South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales today celebrated a long-awaited dousing of their parched crops as falls topped 60mm in some areas overnight."

We have all been happy as we have dodged the downpours. It has taken some getting used to. I had trouble sleeping because of the thrumming, plopping, splishing and splashing through the night and this morning it just poured!! The trees with be so thankful , the animals will be so relieved. The birds were pretty quiet because it was a good soaking. Thre were puddles in the garden and wetness everywhere! Such an unusual site. No it's not enough, not yet, but such a welcome sight and relief. It's become cold, though!! There is nothing like rain, but some parts still haven't got wet. It'll take a while for the water to soak n and then more time to fill up wet areas...but for the farmers it'll be a relief because there might be food for ther livestock now and some chance of getting crops underway. It's hard. We do need to think carefully about how we all manage this.
