Glider spends hours stuck in tree

Glider spends hours stuck in tree : "The woman, in her 30s, had taken off from Mount Emu, 310km north east of Melbourne, at 2pm yesterday (AEDT) but crashed into the tree canopy shortly afterwards."
This is the second paraglider mishap in less than a week. Another woman. Is that significant? Probably not. This one was stuck in a tree for 9 hours before she was located and rescued. She was lucky she had a radio to contact others, but I guess you'd spot a paraglider from the air. So, obviously all paragliders need to be able to carry communication devices. We have huge terrain and some of it is very difficult to reach. Luckily this one went well but she was stuck there all day and heat or cold might have been a problem. Paragliding - yes, I know, it is a sport people are just devoted to. I have a friend who has injured himself on more than one occasion and it's not going to stop him. I think we need to look at why they seem to be going off course.

If you want to know more about Paragliding, Adventure
is a really great visual and informative site which runs in French, English and German.
