Dams dry up at night, says study

AdelaideNow... Dams dry up at night, says study:

"Modelling of ten dams in four different climactic regions found that, irrespective of dam size or climate, up to 40 per cent of total annual water evaporation occurred at night."

In winter they can evaoprate up to 70% at night. What??! I thought sun evaporated water? I thought heat evaporated water. Why are we getting night time evaporation to such a huge extent? I really need a scientisit to explain this to me. Obviously we need to stop this evaporation. It would save us heaps of water. But does it also mean our night time sprinkler regime is ill founded?
