Bunnings to the rescue at height of G20 protest

Bunnings to the rescue at height of G20 protest :

"But The Age was told that this was one of many security bungles surrounding the high-security international event."

We all have 20/20 vision with hindsight and I really think we can be doing better than this. We were not the ones out on the street trying to manage the chaos. Yes, we can do better. Yes, we can learn. Yes, we can get a better plan in place but the police were out there on the day busting their gut for us. If they had to go to Bunnings and get goggles and whatever else then they were on the job managing the mayhem in a very determined fashion. Maybe we should have gone down there and helped them. Things like this happen because we let them happen. Things like this break out because we stand and watch and run a commentary from our safe position. They were neither stupid nor incompetent. They were thrown into the thick of it. They were managing something so unusual here...You know, in all honesty, I am glad to see they had to think on their feet because it means we are not used to this and so we are having to learn the skills on the move. So thank you for putting up with all that crap. Thank you for doing your best and thank you for shutting it down as fast as you could. If you need us to help in any way please let us know how we can better help. I am sure you have taken note of all the things which you can improve next time. Maybe some of us with mouths will shut the violent behaviour down in our society so that we do not have to spend our days with this kind of behaviour. Who were they anyway and who bites people??? Who is living with them, who is accepting them and who lets them believe behaving like that is okay?? Where did they get the spray painters' outfits? The masks? If you are not happy with what the police did, tell us who they were so we can fix the problem. The police acted on our behalf. What did you do?
