If you're male and you ride, beware

If you're male and you ride, beware :

"MALE cyclists aged 30 to 39 are at high risk of being killed or injured in collisions with motor vehicles on weekdays from 4pm to 6pm."

It certainly pays to get the facts straight and in this case, it will help preserve life, which is how it should be. I should've though the male riders are least likely to be seriously injured or killed. They are usually very expert, strong and very handy on their bikes. I hate kids. They are either way too fast , too wobbly or too daredevil. The data collection also highlights the danger being straight stretches of road, which is even more surprising. I always give bikes a wide berth on the freeway or other roads. Straight stetches are usually fairly easy to manage. I am always terrified the bike will slide into my car in busy traffic or narrow roads. This study by Monash University is certainly putting the picture straight. Fantastic stuff because it's information we can use for safety campaigns and public awareness raising.
