Two charged over McDonald's shooting :
"Two men, aged 25 and 23, both of Wantirna, were arrested and charged this afternoon with several offences, including intentionally causing injury and firearm offences."
I have been reading about things like this on the Net news and in my local paper. Someone local was bashed with a brick so the offender could access their wallet and mobile phone. I am really disappointed and frustrated I have to go elsewhere to feel safe. Australia has seriously lost it. Kids can't work in the drive in, kids can't be at home, people can't walk on the street. For a week I didn't have to think about whether I should or shouldn't go out. I didn't have to wonder whether I was going to be ripped off or not. I didn't have to worry about my car being smashed or whether I should or shouldn't sit somewhere. I could feel safe. Safe. It is so nice to feel safe. I have a brilliant beach here, just as brilliant as the one I went to...but I can't walk along the beach front like I did in Noumea because I might get bashed here. Some bastard might decide my money is theirs. I don't get why they take phones these days. I could walk down to the shops and get my provisions in Noumea and I didn't have to worry. I am sick and tired of people not being safe here because the majority of us are really great people. Just as nice as the ones I met overseas. I have been to the shops today and the people there are fantastic and we had a lot of laughs as we shopped and stood at the check outs. Adelaide people are nice people...but we are all sick and tired of not knowing whether we should go to the public toilet or not and we are wondering why we live somewhere so nice and the few scumbags hold us to ransom. We cannot enjoy our environment and the fantastic views here. So, yes, I go away when I want to relax. I can no londer relax here and they wonder why the Port is getting more tourists than any other spot in SA...and things like that above will stop tourists. Why would you visit a place with people who have no idea how to be social?
