Five into 300 for Super Roo

AdelaideNow... Five into 300 for Super Roo:

"'I have one premiership (1998) in 300 games,' said Ricciuto. 'It has been a long gap between drinks. It is a message I will be reinforcing to the young guys around the football club in the next few months - the opportunity to win a premiership does not come around too often. And they are not to be wasted."

The Crows had a big win, a big night and a lot to crow about. Their captain, Mark Ricciuto was celebrating his 300th game. People were wearing their Crows scarves around the shops today. It's not actually something you see a lot except when it gets near the grand final. Today they were just marking an occasion , I think. Showing some appreciation for their team which has been having a really great season. Mark Ricciuto is a good captain. Not one to hog the ball, he lets all the players have a go but his skill with a ball is awesome. He is a footballer. He embodies what football is to us. He's a great player but he's a great guy too. He has shared his skills, his enthusiasm, his belief in the game. He knows what it means and he can get others to understand that too. Premierships aren't that hard to come by, so you have to want more than that and it is what Riccuito shows us every week...sheer bloomin' joy in playing the game which is in the heart and soul of this country.
