World Vision

World Vision

Dirty drinking water kills 6000 children everyday. Everyday. Here we are arguing about the rights and wrongs of an abortion pill completely oblivious to the fact that these 6000 children are dying daily because of lack of clean water. We, the developed nation.

I came home to my sponsorship newsletter today and I tell you, reading it is not only sobering, it gives great heart. You know that sponsoring that child means one of these children has water , food and a chance to live in a community which is moving forward. It is so heartwarming. Companies can join the Gifts in Kind programme and we, the normal, regular people of the world, can sponsor a child.

The number of children sponsored by Australians was up 11.8% over last year and now we sponsor over 360,000 children and I am happy to say I am part of that 11.8% and even though I thought about it every year, I didn't get around to it. It was there but I just didn't do it. I am not pround of that, but I forgive myself and now take great joy in my lovely letters to and from my sponsored child. I love watching his little face every morning on the dining room table. I truly have nothing to complain about when I see him.
