US generals ambush Rumsfeld

Scotsman.com News - International - US generals ambush Rumsfeld:
"The latest senior soldiers to turn their fire on Mr Rumsfeld were Major-Generals John Batiste and Charles Swannack. The former told NBC that 'we went to war with a flawed plan that didn't account for the hard work to build the peace after we took down the regime. We also served under a secretary of defence who didn't understand leadership, who was abusive, who was arrogant, and who didn't build a strong team'."

This is no ambush. US generals have no need to ambush. They are highly trained, exceptionally experienced and very knowledgeable men. If 6 generals have now spoken out against Donald Rumsfeld, then they are confronting a problem which needs to be resolved. These men do not speak out of turn in any kind of an ill considered way. These men have had the lives of many Americans in their capable hands.

"The cost of flawed leadership continues to be paid in blood".

They should know. They have been there on a daily basis trying to fly the American flag and sustain their troops. To discount or dismiss their competence would be very rash. They would not speak out like this without reason because they have proven themselves to be very loyal, worthy Americans. I believe one of them said they needed fresh leadership because Donald Rumsfeld was not able to let them move on. America seems to want to move on but is being held up in the process. If these generals didn't have the guts to speak out like that, then the country would continue to be misinformed. Experts are experts for a reason and when they all hold a similar view they need to be heard.
