Bubonic plague strikes LA

Bubonic plague strikes LA :

"A CASE of bubonic plague has been reported in the second largest US city, Los Angeles, for the first time in 22 years, health officials said today.

America is not the only place to be addled with the recurrence of what we thought were old, gone or ancient diseases. Bubonic plague can be treated with antibiotics but it puts the strain on doctors and hospitals to be able to recognise these former diseases. I sart to wonder how developed we are sometimes.

"Plague symptoms include fever, muscle aches, nausea, headache, sore throat, fatigue and swollen, tender lymph nodes associated with the arm or leg that has flea bites."

It means we have to be vigilant with fleas, whcih can also bring us typhoid, I believe and we have certainly had an upsurge in fleas since all the flooding and damper, humid conditions. I guess we have weather conditions which lend themselves to the agreeable development of certain bugs and viruses. Vigilance!!
