The Australian: Media changes 'stifle diversity' :
"'They (the reforms) will ensure that the existing media barons will have greater ownership, greater control over the diversity of opinion in this country,' Senator Conroy said."
This is nothing new. We have all been talking about it for quite some time. Trying to actually get news is increasingly more difficult. The same stories are repeated world wide. The same focus is world wide. You get a few stories which are cycled over 3 days or so and the take is always the same. We have learned to talk to each other and find other ways of getting the information we want. It really defeats its own purpose when the media is so narrow in its approach. You notice what is ignored and you ignore what is noticed. It is an interesting approach really to have world news which applies everywhere. To a certain extent it brings us all together and we know no one much cares how we think or what our opinions are. But if you decrease one thing, you increase something else. If the media can't bring us news well...some play more sport, others watch more tele, some visit more, some ignore it. It's all different and the indifference of the media to us is what we have come to expect....and yet, we are not totally left out of the loop. When we are , the media will not be part of our lives.
