EFTPOS

Retailers flag EFTPOS withdrawal. :

"'Retailers can't forever keep paying these fees out of their pockets, it's got to come from somewhere,' he said.

'So either it's matter of the merchant having to absorb that and I don't believe merchants can continue to absorb that, or charge the consumer or discontinue the service.'"

Won't affect me because I do not use EFTPOS but it will affect quite a number of people. Bottom line? If the banks aren't charging us they are charging the retailers. Banks are having a wonderful time with their fees and holding us to ransom. Someone needs to regulate it , make it reasonable and stop mucking us about. We are forced to used systems by fee structures and then forced not to use them. It is never about our needs nor the needs of retailers. It is always about the banks' needs. Time for a change, I feel.
