Why Gen Y flouts sun warnings : "The melanoma risk calculator, part of the GenoMEL project, will be available for free within five years."
The GenoMEL may well help but in the emantime common sense needs to prevail. If young people are ignoring the warnings and the facts then they do not believe it applies to them. Sun safety is for everyone else. Is it just sun safety? They have been brought up on options, choices and consequences so if they choose to go into the sun and stay too long, if they choose not to slip slop slap, then that was their choice and they will have to suffer the consequences. Their logic doesn't allow them to put common sense in first. No one in their right mind puts themselves at risk. There isn't an option if you have common sense!
