Oday Adnan Al Tekriti

PM steps in over Saddam's minder :

"However, the decision was overturned by the Administrative Appeals Tribunal and Tekriti was given temporary safe haven in Australia.

Tekriti, who arrived illegally in Australia by boat in December 1999, now lives in Adelaide with his wife."

Yes, we were all a bit dumbstruck this morning when we heard this. Apparently he is moving to Sydney. We cannot get our heads around it at all, so I hope the law and politicians can. Vivian Solon and Cornelia Rau were locked up in detention and Ms. Solon was wrongfully deported. David Hicks is still in Guantanomo Bay and was in Afghanistan before all this was an issue. Now we have an ex body guard of Saddam Hussein being kept here for safety reasons and having been cleared through Baxter has a visa to stay here but other Iraqis trying to flee the regime haven't been allowed to be here to stay safe. We are all too confused. There doesn't seem to be a protocol which makes sense to us normal folk so it's a good job we have a government to set us straight.

From a reign of terror to a quiet life in the suburbs

Adelaide is anything but quiet!
