South Australians the readers of the nation

The Advertiser: South Australians the readers of the nation :

"SA readers, for the past six years, have been ranked the most consistent library users by the Council of Australian State Libraries."

I have blogged about this before. We are readers and parents here get their kids over to the libraries as part of their daily lives. Our libraries put on great sessions for kids, but they are also instrumental in getting books out to housebound people. Thier community service is remarkable. We believe in a good read and we have a wide and varied taste. Everyone has their book in their bag and most can't wait to tell you what they are reading. It's just normal for us to share good books and some of us have the policy if you buy a good book and read it , you then hand it on to the next person who will hand it on... We've spawned quite a few writers here , too, because books mean so much to us. We even came up with the idea of "thin" books for kids who were going through a reluctant reading phase. MOst of us read a good, thick book and enjoy being lost in the world of reading.
