DIMIA 'gave refugees fake IDs'

The Advertiser: DIMIA 'gave refugees fake IDs' [13sep05]:

"The Government had falsified travel documents for two Serbians – Valbona and Ergi Anton Kola – who the Immigration Department tried to deport last year, Mr Burke said."

There seems to be no end to what our immigration department can do. They have put themselves outside the law and created situations which are not at all in line with the rest of our society. This particular couple had refugee status awarded to them by the UN and still our Government did what it did. Even our courts have been used to try and deport these people under false names. You expect the government to follow the laws of the land. Or is that silly these days? Is nothing sacred? Mrs. Kola is pregnant and very emotional. Understandably so. Mr. Kola is in detention. Why? The UN has said they are bone fide refugees which means they are allowed to seek asylum. Why are we so horribly mean?
