Actor, pilot John Travolta delivers food, vaccines to Katrina victims

Actor, pilot John Travolta delivers food, vaccines to Katrina victims :

"Travolta declined to join in the criticism, saying he had seen both good and bad.

'What we've seen in the shelters is wonderful, because people are being taken care of,' he said. 'What we've seen in the city is disastrous.'"

John Travolta comes over here quite a bit and is well respected and well liked. We like how he just gets in his plane and comes over here and is perfectly "normal". He was even in Christchurch when I was there last and was just sitting in a coffee shop like the rest of us...but my flight home got held up because his plane was being cleared for takeoff first and the Kiwis loved it!!

He is always down to earth and pragmatic and having had his share of personal disaster he has an amazing compassion for humanity. I guess his approach is the best...there's good and bad but there is ALWAYS something you can do to improve things. The anger is out there and will help clear the air, but the number of stars and celebrities who are currently getting off their butts and putting in will be of great inspiration to the people of New Orleans. I mean, this is New Orleans. This IS New Orleans. The guns can go away and that great spirit which has reached so many of us needs to be rekindled and Matt Menold and his Decadence Parade got it going yesterday and the stars are out there today and people have started to feel hope because they are going back home. Confronting their grief is a big thing. Getting people behind them to strengthen their spirit and light up New Orleans again is what they need. My family brought me up on wonderful stories from the Middle East and Scotland but the music came from the New Orleans Jazz and the Big Band Era. My uncle was an absolute fanatic of New Orleans Jazz and people like Fats Domino. I rocked to all that stuff when I was little.

It's New Orleans, man. We're going to celebrate.

And with everyone's help, they will. They need to hear their music and know what they really stand for in this world. Not that terrible pain and agony they have been through...but some people think that great writing and music can only come from suffering. You don't wish it on people though, do you, just so you can hear great music and read powerful novels?
