Mobiles 'quadruple crash danger'

BBC NEWS | Health | Mobiles 'quadruple crash danger':

"Drivers are four times more likely to crash when using mobile phones, even if they use hands-free kits, experts say."

There is a group of well trained, sensible, lovely mobile users who ALWAYS pull over to answer the call and it's always outside my home so I know!! I love them for being so good. Then there are the nutters, and we still have them, and they are usually on the main roads, who answer the phone and drive...because it's too hard to pull over (!?). Then there's me. My phone is never on when I am driving. Given Adelaide is the 20 minute city I don't see the need. Were there a huge massive emergency 20 minutes probably wouldn't make a difference. It didn't used to before. I stopped and pulled my phone out when I was caught in a fire on the way home....and couldn't get a signal out. So, the one time I tried it didn't work anyway. My mobile is with me incase...for others they don't seem to do anything unless it is attached to their ear. Maybe we need a new chip to put in some people's ears so they are always connected and then they can keep their hands on the wheel. It all has to be voice activated, of course. I use drive time to listen to the radio and slow down a bit.
