Obama Barack

US authorities are investigating whether four people arrested
in Denver have been plotting to shoot Democrat presidential candidate
Barack Obama during his acceptance speech.

I have been thinking about this. The more so because when Barack Obama was in the running with Hilary Clinton, I wanted America to be able to vote in a woman. France just couldn't do it and maybe they are kicking themselves now. At the time people here were saying they wouldn't vote in a woman because they thought America just couldn't do that. Nor can we for that matter. Women need to do something about that and their image as the ultimate leader. Somehow they are just not credible to the voters when push comes to shove. But then there was talk that if Barack Obama got in then there would be people in America who would find it intolerable to have a black person as their head of state. We were feeling very dismayed and sad about that and then someone dared to say, anyway, they'll just assassinate him if they think he has too much power. It seemed very cynical. It seemed that in this day and age we were only skin deep and couldn't take a long hard look at ourselves and make some decent changes to who we were. Oddly enough, or perhaps ironically, it is Barack Obama who represents that breath of fresh air and that capacity for us to change the world. So here we are at that all too well worn stereotypical image of the US killing its own if they don't like them. It's a terrible overseas image to have. There are over 300 million Americans and a lot of them are like me and you...but the country has some strange public images...so this "plot" just falls right in with what people expect to hear and it's a crying shame. That man deserves better and so does his country.
