Grant Hackett

Grant Hackett given all clear ahead of 1500m heat at Beijing Olympics : "THE Australian swim team doctor has given Grant Hackett the all clear after fears about his health going into tonight's 1500m heats at the Beijing Olympics."

I remember when Kieren Perkins won the 1500 when he was quite ill. That is why he is a hero. We willed him to win. The commentators had given up on him...and the guy just kept swimming till he won. It cost him personally, but what a legend and he is so happy now!!! Grant Hackett will give it his best. He always does. The nerves must take their toll and the constant pounding in the pool. I think the swimmers just have a gruelling time of it at the Olympics because they have to just keep swimming and keep fronting up for events and there is little time to recuperate. It all takes its toll. They will get run down. It happened to our cricket team when they just had to keep going out there and playing cricket. It wore them down. Bodies need to rest and recuperate. Grant has been swimming for a long time now. Hopefully he can do really well, but if he has reached saturation point and needs to back off now, then there is no shame in that. He has served us well. He'll give it his best shot and that's all we need. He got on the team, he has stayed on the team;he has done us proud so often. They really have taken us all there in their suitcase. I love that ad. It's just so appropriate.
