Virgin's biofuel demo more than a stunt

Virgin's biofuel demo more than a stunt : "Some governments around the world are already taxing air passengers to discourage the pollution they cause, and airlines will likely be included in emissions trading systems being proposed and may soon be forced to pay for their exhaust."

It's 2008 and we have to solve this. I am currently not flying so I can do my bit for carbon emissions. I am putting my money into my home at this stage. But it's 2008. We don't really seem to have a reliable carbon offset programme which leads us to believe it will really, really work. We have talk of biofuels causing problems for food supply and farmers. We have other talk of them not saving much carbon anyway and then we have the melting bogs in Siberia which make us all feel powerless when we think about it. In the mean time we keep trying. People like to fly. They like to travel across the planet and to other countries. It could become our new world because we love it, but we are constantly dealing with airline disasters, airline costs, carbon emissions and don't do it mentalities . It is a natural thing in 2008 to want to fly. We just haven't got it safe, environmentally friendly and the right price yet. We can do better.
