Teen on life support after jumping from cab

Teen on life support after jumping from cab: "Police believe he jumped out of the cab as it arrived close to his home.

The youth sustained serious injuries when he hit his head on the road."

The police might charge the taxi driver for not stopping to help the injured boy.Until the facts re establish we can only go on what is here. I don't know what the boy was thinking if he really was jumping out of the taxi to save himself the cost of the fare. This is not what he would have anticipated. The taxi driver may have been taken aback completely by what had happened and teenagers can put the fear of God into people these days when they behave irrationally. It would be hard to know at this stage what occurred before , if the jumping out was sudden and startling and then there is the matter of the taxi driver losing his fare and having to get to his next job. Taxi drivers are really doing it hard at the moment. If the boy jumped out he is of an age to know that will lead to injury. No one would expect to be on life support because of it. His family will be so traumatised. We are required to render assistance in an accident. This wasn't an accident, so I don't actually know what the obligation is legally and I am curious to find out. I don't believe there is a way of holding us accountable for erratic behaviour in others because we have been living in a world where we have put ourselves in danger when we have tried to help people who are unpredictable in their behaviour. Tricky one, but my heart is certainly with that family.
