Employers concerned about graduate skills: report : "A new report has recommended making skills like communication and problem-solving a mandatory and assessable part of university degrees."
University? I am so embarrassed. I apologise we have no idea what education is. Thinking, communication, problem solving are strategies which can be taught at a very young age. Speak with well educated primary aged children. They have all of these requirements and it is blatantly obvious. If children do not have these things then parents and early childhood teachers need to be looking at how you develop thinking, literate children who can converse in a thoughtful manner. It's the nonsense of 3 sentences is enough, a grunt will suffice and Maths has too much content to be gripping which pulls us all undone. We need to value education and knowledge and we certainly have the tools to make it all palatable. Our job is to socialise our children. They should not be at uni if they cannot communicate and cannot solve problems...listen to erudite academics instead of this clap trap and you will know what I mean.
