A rock and a hard place

AdelaideNow... A rock and a hard place: "Paramedics treated the men at the scene before taking them to Port Lincoln Hospital. They were discharged a short time later. It is understood one has a broken rib."

Something we have ignored for years and something we have known for years. We really do not have safe havens along our coastline. The gaps between safe harbours is far too big in a storm. This is a big country. The coastline is massive and there is a good reason so many ships from explorers sank off our SA coast. It is treacherous. Unforgiving. Stunning, beautiful, awesome...but unforgiving. We really need to look at safe havens. Some have been rejected because people do not want marinas where they are living. Pity. Marinas are lovely and can add a real atmosphere to the place. Truth is, we like quiet here! So we need to think in terms of safe spots because too many small vessels cannot get to a safe place if a storm whips up. It's cruel. We can do better. Thank heavens the paramedics and SES got to these men in time.
