Good reason to carry a mobile. I don't think too many people would think of lighting a fire to get out of a club, but I completely understand the state of panic if you find yourself locked in somewhere and you think you will not be seen or heard. How often is the club open? Good reason to check building before you leave. I guess it was a big night? It sounds like he was in such a terrible state of panic that he couldn't think. Was there phone access in the club?
