Higher Risk Of Suicidal Thoughts And Behavior In Poor Readers

Higher Risk Of Suicidal Thoughts And Behavior In Poor Readers: "Teenagers with reading problems are at significantly higher risk for suicide and for dropping out of school than typical readers, according to a study by Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center researchers."

This article was written at teh end of 2006 and I was alarmed when I read it. We tend to think in stereotypes when we think of suicidal people and we shouldn't. Research and articles like this need to be more widespread because it will help us keep the picture straight. Who would have thought that poor readers are more prone to suicidal thoughts? It is obviously something we can address and improve. Something we can actually fix!
