Fish Habitrail

Table of Malcontents: "I can not bear to see a fish isolated to a tiny fish bowl world, prodded by the sticky fingers of children and subject to the deafening crash of knuckles rapping on the sides of their transparent glass prison."

You have just got to follow up this link from Knuttz.net via Wired. The habitrail allows the fish to swim from one aquarium to another across the house so that they don't get bored. As someone who has had an aquarium forever I can really appreciate the ingenuity behind this but also the fact that the fish would really appreciate it. Fish do respond to changes in their environment and they do like you to take an interest. They like to have plants, rocks, adventure. They respond to having a decor change or a new set of bubbles...they reward you with extra good health and a happy disposition. I am curious how the habitrail is cleaned. It would be a mammoth task. Just look at the photos: they are astounding! It's a good sign though that we, as people, are starting to think about the needs of the pets we keep and are reminding ourselves they appreciate the same things we do...atention, affection, good changes and some decent stimulation.
