"A passer-by spotted the car but did not have a pen and feared she would forget the plate number, so she asked a group of children to memorise it, police in the northern British city of Liverpool said yesterday."

See? There are good kids around and for all the good they do one, just one will do huge amounts of damage. The extremes are very extreme. The good ones have a real sense of community and work with their fellow human beings. It's called being socialised and these kids helped those robbers be caught withing 40 minutes. That is great stuff.
