There are 240 languages spoken in Australia, not counting our aboriginal ones. Why wouldn't they be included in the count I saw?? Seems to me we have things to fix ourselves before we ask new comers to get their act together. We could fix our detention centres because they are driving people crazy and this is our gift to them. We could listen to the health professionals and develop some cultural sensitivity because we are contributing to mental health break downs of immigrants because we do not have a knowledge about language learning and cultural change. Our politicians do not learn languages like the politicians of other countries. They are not multi or bi lingual like their foreign counterparts so we should fix this. We also need to fix the people like on the Jamie Oliver in Australia programme. 28, 000 people applied for a position in his 15 restaurant. So what are we offering our young people and the state of these 15-25 year olds was largely tragic and very disturbing. This is what our country has done to young people. Ah, then the case of the abortion at 28 weeks. We abort at 28 weeks. That's a real baby. I am aghast that we espouse that and then think to criticise those coming from countries where they are really struggling to keep their children alive. So, let's sort out our own back yard , shall we, and stop diverting ourselves from the real issues?
