Don't park in bike lanes

AdelaideNow... Don't park in bike lanes:

"But the majority of motorists illegally driving or parking in bicycle lanes were unaware that they were breaking rules, Mr Trainer said."

When bike lanes are on both sides of the road and the letter box is on the kerb, you can't park hundreds of metres away and walk to post a letter, not when we work such long hours. They need to think of things like that and when cars need to park because the house driveway is full. The bike lanes are a great idea but turning onto another road becaomes hazardous at times because of the blind spot and not knowing where the cyclist is. Porfessional cyclists have a protocol. School students are a menace at times and it's hard to be perfect under those conditions and the clashing of amenities and bike lanes. A bit of awareness raising on everyone's part wouldn't go astray. Basically the system works but there are some really patchy parts.
