Telstra criticised over public phone plan.

Telstra criticised over public phone plan. :

"'We have some payphones that lose about $27 every time somebody picks up the phone, so if you look at the revenue the payphone generates compared to the amount of money we spend on vandalism et cetera, some of them lose a lot of money,' he said."

I can't say that I blame Telstra when you see what happens to a number of public phones. The ones in busy places like airports and stations tend to be looked after, but booths are smashed, phones are wrecked and for a long time the public phones have been a disaster and I think we all acknowledge that. Usually they cannot be used. So keep them in the public areas and keep them in places where they can be seen to be valid and valuable. Shopping centre phones tend to work too. Those without mobiles need to be catered to and also for times when the mobile isn't accessible or warranted. It's a matter of strategic planning!!
