Minister criticises Labor's childcare plan.

Minister criticises Labor's childcare plan. :

"'The Labor Party has been going on now for months about the lack of places and yet here we have today trumpeted by Mr Beazley Labor's blueprint for child care and there is not one additional place.'"

Okay, prove that ti won't supply extra places. It would create some finance which would be an inducement to create extra places. Yes, the point about costing is valid. It would be good to see large organisations provide onsight child care where appropriate and where numbers warrant it. It would take the strain off pick up and delivery, cut down on the time wasted when illnes and accidents occur. It would take a lot of that time factor out of day care and child care. One of our unis at least has a day care centre close tot he uni. It makes life easier for everyone and provides an interesting diversion for people on the way to or from the campus. The atmosphere is positve and it workd positively within that organisational structure. I think we need to look at it before we shoot it down because we are strained at the moment with regard to day care and are lacking in flexibilty.
