The Age: : "A 92-year-old woman phoned social services to complain of the 'loose behaviour' of her daughter, 68. The mother rang with 'tales of infidelity and philandering' but officials in the German city of Hildesheim told her she was about 50 years too late. Police went to smooth things over. The daughter, a former school teacher, told them: 'Forgive her. She's a daft old bat.'"
Many people at work have aged and ailing parents and relatives. Some of the stories are sad...like there are two of my friends who have both had to separate their parents into different homes because one has had Alzheimers and the other is too old to cope with it. After people have been married so happily for so long it seems so sad they end up apart like that. The older, healthier one can never understand and the families are put through such emotional strain trying to deal with it. Then there are the problems with parents with Alzheimers or Parkinsons and then there are the good news stories like my friend's aged father whom she finally convinced to wear contacts because he kept losing or breaking his glasses...and she aslo went along with him to get the treatment for poor sight which works on some people. Well...he father was crying because he could see brown ducks again. He had only been able to see white or brightly coloured birds. Then there are the "dotty" relatives and tales of those keep us amused and help salve the pain of those who have the sad stories to tell...but no one has had a mother like this. This old lady needs the Mother of the Year award for being so vigilant!!
