'Do not call' laws introduced.

'Do not call' laws introduced. :

"The Communications Minister, Helen Coonan, says the Do Not Call Register will help deliver peace of mind to consumers who dislike disruptions from unsolicited calls.

The register will cost $33 million to establish."

$33 million? How much housing could we supply? How much food could we give to the hungry? What new hospital equipment could be purchased? We would be understandably ridiculed if we ran our budgets like this. Besides, the register should be a please call. The default should be Do not call. It's a travesty. Thank heavens normal people do not behave like this.
