UK drug trial leaves 6 men in intensive care.:
"The volunteers fell ill after taking a drug being developed to treat chronic inflammatory conditions and leukemia, a British medicines watchdog said in a statement.
The Medicines and Health care products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) said eight men took part in the trial, two of whom were given a placebo.
The six who took it became ill."
The two who took the placebos are okay, so presumably it is the new drug. I have never heard of this before but I suppose it never gets published if a new drug doesn't work in human trials. Given it's a drug to treat chronic inflammatory illnesses and leukemia, then I am not surprised there are problems since most drugs developed to cater to inflammatory conditions often have quite serious side effects. It seems to be a thing we are getting better at but it is hazardous. We don't seem to be able to get a balance with inflammatory drugs. It is unusal for people to be hosptitalised in trials...but they are okay , at least. Drug trials are performed under stringent conditions as far as I know. It just seems sad. Leukemia is another disease we need to get rid of from the planet. Hopefully they will get the better of this problem.
