E-learning gets an A

E-learning gets an A - Perspectives - Opinion - Technology - smh.com.au:

"Before it was called e-learning it was known as computer-based training."

Software can really have its limitations when it comes to e-learning. Many of the programmes are facile , inadequate, limited and very poor value for money compared with books and encyclopedias. However, the Net is superb when it comes to delivering content . I have been able to teach myself a number of things via the Net and can only say it's a massive relief to have my own virtual classroom since I have always learned better by myself. Groups can be okay but by and large they slow me down and annoy me. I just want to get stuck into things and learn them and then I will seek out people when I want practice or clarification. I don't think we have even started to realise e-learning potential and I have seen the enormous benefits of it in my own family. Software really needs to liven itself up.
