Here chookie, chookie...

Well, according to this article, we are going to increase our chicken production because we can!
Jobs boom - and it's thanks to chickens
I am not really surprised because we have both the space and the commitment to eating chicken. We are very fond of poultry. A lot of Adelaide people would say chicken is their favourite meal.We would be creating a lot more jobs, which would help considering we have lost so many:

"This growth is expected to create 3600 jobs - 1200 directly for the industry and 2400 in supporting industries. Areas include farms, retail outlets, takeaway food, transport, building, and restaurant industries.

Consumption of poultry meat in Australia has grown steadily, with each person now eating an average of 35.1kg of chicken each year. Chicken makes up 39 per cent of the nation's total meat consumption. "

It makes sense as long as we shall be looking after our chickens and we could. It could be a great life for some people and easier than running herds of cattle. It's important we go back to really looking after our animals. As I keep saying, it's not just about profit. We have lost too much by focussing on profit. Farmers need to be able to produce quality without all the pressure of quanity and from that point of view, we need to maybe look at how we set up our farms and chickens might help us out here because you wouldn't have to run such a big farm.
