Telstra sale 'rush'

The Australian: Beazley slams Telstra sale 'rush':

"LABOR has accused the Federal Government of rushing to sell out regional Australia as it tries to ram its Telstra sale Bills through Parliament."

It is being rushed through and the loudest voice, Barnaby Joyce, who was trying to get the whole thing discussed and considered properly has been made to look like a fool by being treated like a naughty little boy and made to sit silently and behave himself now. So much for democracy, so much for freedom of speech and I gather the thinking is let's get the sale organised and over and done with and then everyone will forget about it. Why the hurry? Like petrol pricing, Australia needs to consider its telecommunications properly and rationally because it is an important part of how we live. Seems like the big things are being treated with a great deal of impunity at the moment. I didn't realise we were working to a deadline. Why? I'd prefer a more adult approach.
