Smart surveillance has alarm bells ringing

News in Science - Smart surveillance has alarm bells ringing - :

"Glover says the smart surveillance system, which can compress large amounts of data, is based on computers learning what normal behaviour is, then looking for patterns of behaviour outside the norm."

Logically, this makes sense. We have known for a long time that body heat, body chemistry and gestures change according to behaviour. One only has to be familiar with mating rituals to know this is not a weird thought. To develop software on people's behaviour is a bit weird, though, but not irrational and may well be the answer in the longer term. We have the technology. If we are not doing anything anti social, we shouldn't be worried. How sure is it? How certain is it? Privacy issues? We are being exploded. We have no privacy. Eventually this might sort the goats out from the sheep. Worth a look? Probably. I feel like this scrutinizing isn't what I want. Like the Google maps which seemed like a good idea, are now looking like they pose a threat. Bugga. Why can't everyone be nice and trustworthy and well intentioned. Why don't we invent a chip to make people behave nicely?
