Laptop boom :)

Australian IT - Optimism fuels laptop boom :

"Mr Woo said notebooks would continue to grow until they pushed ahead of desktops in terms of market share. He said he expected notebooks to sit at 40 per cent by 2006."

Laptops have always been desirable but the screens and the price made them unrealistic for most people. I have an old laptop but it's heavy and the screen is one I like, but most people don't. It can work well on a desk, but it's not a notebook! The new ones, drool, drool, look all shiny and bright and I shall be replacing my desktop with a laptop in the not too distant future. Computers are part of our lives now and when you have multi users in a home who are all dedicated users, the desktop approach takes up too much room and the home looks like mission control. I don't really mind and it's certainly a talking point and converstion starter in this home. I'd like to reclaim my home, though, and make it less like computer city....so I am looking and pricing and thinking and considering...and one day, there'll be a lovely new laptop here.
