Joe Korp

Korp 'left note for son'. :

"Melbourne man Joe Korp, who was accused of planning to murder his wife, left a note for his son before taking his own life last night, according to his brother."

Truth is always stranger than fiction and always more powerful. Joe Korp was found hanged in his home. The husband of Maria Korp, who was strangled and left to die in the car boot at Melbourne's Shrine of Remembrance, had her funeral yesterday. In this article it says the ex lover of Joe Korp, Tania Herman is serving 12 years for attempted murder. Mr. Korp was allowed to visit his wife before she died but did not attend the funeral. This article says it was because he would have attracted too much media attention and thereby detract from what was a very peaceful farewell to Maria Korp. He is supposed to have left a letter for the 11 year old son. This young boy has so much to manage in his young life. So much to come to terms with. Joe Korp had been charged with attempted murder, theft and intent to cause serious injury. He was contesting the attempted murder charge. He would have been charged, under Victorian law, with murder when Mrs. Korp died. The lawyer says the media coverage would have contributed to his death. It is very difficult to imagine how this case would not attract attention. Maria Korp had been strangled and left to die and it was several days later she was found , still alive, in the car boot. She survived since February but was always unconscious and it was so sad she never regained consciousness when she had been found alive. I guess Tania Herman knows the truth of it all because she pleaded guilty. She had said Joe Korp had convinced her to kill his wife. Gust, the brother, had said at the hearing that Maria thought Joe and Tania were planning to kill her. It is very difficult not to want to know what went so very wrong. People normally just divorce their spouses. In any case, the young boy has to now deal with the death of two parents and that , in itself, is something the media would bring attention to because it is very unusual for children to lose both parents.
