Discovery is alive and well

What's that bit with Canada on it? Is it a patriotic pipe or a piece of shuttle advertising space? Where are the stars and stripes? Oooooh, this bit is so hard. They have undocked and are on their way home back to Florida. I am so hoping that bit goes well. I was going to say if all goes well, the Americans can truly say they have a great programme with this shuttle and they have provided us with some "think ahead" material which is so dynamic. Truth is, even if it doesn't go right, this shuttle programme is still really "out there" and past its embryonic phase. The thing I have most appreciated and valued in this Discovery programme is that NASA has been kind enough to do press releases and interviews to keep us all in the loop. They have included us in their conversations and discoveries and the astronauts have equally been very " down to earth" and inclusive. I just think it is incredibly magical how this all happens. We are managing something astoundingly, mindbogglingly inspirational. Yes, they have got stuff wrong. So have all the other amazingly gifted discoverers of our time. Let us not forget we have plenty of ocean vessels around here which sank in the South Pacific because explorers dared to set sail to discover new terrain. Their wooden boats also had bits falling off. I just think it's great that America has kept the spirit of discovery alive inspite of the inevitable negatives when you dare to dream. It is is so much more positive compared with the other stuff going on on our planet. May all go well and thank you for the Discovery trip. Posted by Picasa
