Rich rorters

The Advertiser: We help rich buy mansions :

"The State Treasury, which runs the scheme on behalf of the Federal Government, has revealed almost 300 South Australians have attempted to rort it."

No matter which party the government of the day represents they always seem to get themselves into this position. Government grants and schemes are created to benefit low income earners and those who are struggling. We have had a real change in SA with the capacity for people on low incomes to afford reasonable housing or any housing. Each month we get news of people who are still living with their parents , friends, or worse still, in their cars. So the state and federal governments have come up with plans to try and ease the burdens. It is just sad we have such an opportunistic lot of materialists who would look to these schemes for their own pecuniary benefit and further push the low income earners off the housing market. A lot of them can't even find suitable rental properties because the rents are too high. Capping the scheme at $500.000 won't do much. You can get a brilliant home for that price here. I truly think people are going to have to spend the time getting to know the applicants and working on a case by case basis. Make it part of the application.
