Hurricane Dennis menaces Shuttle | The Register:
"Mission controllers at NASA will be monitoring the storm's progress, and will make a final decision today as to whether the Shuttle ought to be moved. If the storm moves towards the Gulf of Mexico, the lift-off on 13 July would most likely go ahead. If it stays on its current Florida-bound heading, the winds are likely to reach the area early on Saturday morning."
Must be very frustrating to hold up the shuttle launch again...but better safe than sorry and festine lente and all of that. It's been a nasty hurricane killing at least 5 people in Haiti. They've had to move the shuttle to a safe hangar four miles from the launch pad and lift off is now due by 31st July. You can't muck about with winds of around 135K an hour.
