Train Safety
"Inspectors had been assaulted, verbally abused, spat at, and pelted with objects. One inspector was taken to hospital after being headbutted.
'There are even reports of golf balls and lumps of ballast being thrown at them,' Ms Giles said."
No one should have to work under conditions like these. Recently a number of things have come together: this, the senseless loss of life on roads, a football club changing venues because of rowdy, antagonistic teenagers, the doctor and health worker shortage. I wonder if it is all linked to the teenagers who have no boundaries and the litigation people use to try and counter these stupid , horrible behaviours. So many kids are good and positive, then you have ones like the two I saw in town yesterday. They were apparently begging for change for a bus ticket. A blond guy and a girl. Apparently it happens frequently with these two. They were going from one person to another, the looked well dressed, the guy abused one woman roundly and she looked visibly shaken from where I stood on the other side of the street. She hurried off to the traffic lights to get away from them. Then they were putting there heads in cars as they stopped at the lights. Harassment. Invasion. Call it what you will, they had a gall and no manners. What could we do? Any retaliation might have provoked an attack so everyone was being polite. Why? We need a way to get them to behave in a more sociable manner. People won't go to town if they are going to be bullied like that. Last time I went it was every 10 minutes some kid was approaching me for money. Boundaries. Who gave them the idea this behaviour was all right? Not us!!
