Downer poised to sign treaty - with a proviso

Downer poised to sign treaty :

"Australia would only sign the South-East Asian non-aggression pact if it was guaranteed a seat at the upcoming East Asia summit, the Foreign Minister, Alexander Downer, said yesterday."

You don't sign it to get a seat, you sign it because you agree with it. I need an Australia which does not support aggression and so I want Australia to sign the non agression pact. I want Australia to work on pollution and greenhouse emissions and climate change , so I want Australia to sign the agreements which support those positive initiatives too. Sign it because it's right, not because it's a way to position bargain. If they don't let us into the summit it is because we have prevaricated and that makes us seem churlish...but I do not believe the Asian leaders are that petty. I just think they want a group which genuinely says no to aggression.
