Women find computer games 'big turn-on'

Women find computer games 'big turn-on' :

"Author of the report, Dr Jeff Brand from Queensland's Bond University said the survey, which was conducted from May to August this year, dispelled a number of myths."

I hope Dr. Jeff Brand continues to research and continues to bring the truth before our eyes about computer games because it's one of those marketing myths. Really. Like kids being fantastic on computers. We see what we want and we believe the crap we are told. Most of my adult friends have a pet computer game. That's the thing with adults. They like to get in and explore things. It's not a quick flick, "I've done it" mentality. It's an appreciation of a certain type of game. Some of them are the experts on flight simulators. Some like the adventure games. None like the platform type games and most don't like the role plays and the heavy violence. A lot of games are just explosions and destruction and real downer stuff instead of a challenge. This is very low level. Little kids like the classic character games and the easier platform type games, but they also like solving mysteries. I have an elder daughter who is right into the Tombraider stuff , the Buffy games and the Matrix and then she likes amusing diversion games....silly stuff as a break. There is no marketing understanding of the appreciation the whole population has for games and how it is far more complex than getting the game of the film. It's not that facile, so I am glad someone is sitting down to talk to real people about it, because girls are largely ignored and left out apart from the patronising stuff because the perception is teenage boys and young twenties males are the game target audience. Like anything else...variety is the spice of life.

PS. Forgot to mention she is a big fan of The Sims.
