Beijing Games

There are not sufficient words to describe this opening ceremony. In the end it's what happened last night...at the beginning of the broadcast we lost our commentators and what a relief. We could just sit there and drink in the visual images, the technical expertise and the feats in technology which drew us in, appealed to us and were so dazzling. The use of colour was extraordinary because the colours were so carefully chosen to add to light , movement, depth. These honeycomb people were perfectly synchronised and then when it went dark and the sticks glowed red , it was yet another image with another feel. The whole thing was touching and deeply moving. Art, technical accuracy and technology all blended together to show us how beautiful things can be. We had the compulsory cute girl who was just bursting with cuteness and the munchins who just looked so adorable. We had the compulsory flying things but what was memorable and astounding was the level of artistic, technical and technological perfection. It made me think that I am no longer going to do things by halves. It made me decide that if I am going to do something I am going to get it right. It was something which you just sat back and watched. Talking was not a part of what was going on...because what was going on was simply amazing and not something which you talked about. It's what you felt.
